Animal Welfare Activists Urge BJP MP Pratap Simha To Step Down For His Irresponsible & Anti Constitutional Statement Against Animals
BANGALORE: Recently, BJP MP from Mysore Pratap Simha allegedly made a controversial statement about animals, saying “stray dogs should be killed mercilessly.”
Animal welfare activists are furious on this statement of Pratap Simha, they say that MP’s statement is not only a violation of the rulings of the Supreme Court, but also against the Constitution, on which MP had taken the oath.
Now these animal welfare activists are demanding resignation and unconditional apology from Pratap Simha and have also complained to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP high command.
In this regard, animal rights activist Sujata said that the government should organize awareness programs in this regard. She further said that along with the government’s initiative, public participation is also necessary.
He said, “The MP needs to apologize for his statements as he has incited riots like brutally killing community dogs living in the city.”
Animal welfare activists said that Pratap Simha’s statements are an insult to the Supreme Court’s order regarding the rights of street dogs. He said, instead of making such inflammatory statements which are against the Supreme Court order and mislead the public, he should do something for the welfare of street animals such as mass vaccination and sterilization programmes. To be initiated, which is not happening.
Animal welfare activist Navina Kamat asked that what arrangements have been made by Pratap Simha in his parliamentary constituency to give food and shelter to speechless animals?
Navina Kamat said that Pratap Simha made an irresponsible statement by ignoring the guidelines of the Supreme Court, which is equivalent to inciting violence.
It may be recalled that while speaking at a meeting with the Mysore City Corporation officials recently, Simha said that if the media stops reporting on the issue and ” we will take some steps to resolve the issue”, then the streets will be free. The problem of dogs can be solved.
Pratap Simha said that animal welfare activists are the main reason for not taking action on the stray dogs of the street. (Animal Rights Activists) will realize the problem when dogs bite their children.
