Child labor is a punishable crime, get rid of it, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
Bangalore: Even after 75 years of independent India, lakhs of innocent children are forced to become laborers due to poverty, which is very shameful.
Today on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated an awareness rally in Bangalore and said recruitment of child labor is a punishable offence. Therefore, the public, parents and business people need to be aware of it.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also administered oath to the attendees.
In this regard, educationist Abdul Subhan said in one of his important messages that child labor recruitment is not only a failure of the government but also of the society, that the lives of children who are the future of the country are being played with. He said that the society should play its role to eradicate the shameful crime like child labor and work to create awareness among the people about its importance.
Siddramaiah started awareness march near Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road on the occasion of Anti-Child Labor Day.
Siddaramaiah said that not only parents but also business owners should be aware of this. An oath has been taken in this regard. If children work at school age, they are deprived of education. The constitution says that education is the fundamental right of all. Children under the age of 18 should not be employed. If taken for work, it is against the law. Legal action may be taken against them.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that awareness will be created and action will be taken against those who engage in child labor with bad intentions.
