Condition Of Muslim Community Is Still Deplorable From Sachar Commission To Kundu Commission
Did the Condition of The Muslim Community Improve? The Journey From Sachar Commission to Kundu Commission
Bangalore: In 2016, the Justice Sachar Commission submitted a detailed report on the educational, social, economic and political conditions of the Muslim community and its living conditions along with recommendations for solving these problems.
And in 2014, the implementation of Sachar Commission’s recommendations was evaluated by Prof. Kundu’s committee. After being reviewed by the Kundu Committee, the final report was submitted with the findings on how much improvement has been made in the current conditions of the Muslim community.
Now, after 16 years from the Sachar Commission to the Kundu Commission, Professor Amitabh Kundu highlighted the findings of his report.
In this regard, Rajya Sabha KM. P. Dr. Nasir Hussain said that the recommendations were implemented during the Congress rule, while the Kundu report says that there has been no cognizable improvement in the conditions of Muslims, but this has definitely brought awareness in the mainstream.
In this regard, Dr. Nasir Hussain appealed to the intellectuals and philanthropists to come forward and make efforts to improve the conditions of the Muslim community.
It may be remembered that the Post Sachar Evaluation Committee headed by Professor Amitabh Kundu submitted its final report to Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Hapatullah on October 9, 2014.
The seven-member Kundu Committee was set up by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs in September 2013 to review the implementation of the recommendations made by the Justice Rajendra Sachar Committee on the social, economic and educational condition of the Muslim community in India.
The committee’s mandate was to review the report of the Sachar Committee and the implementation process of the new 15-point program of the Prime Minister. The committee was also asked to review the results of the programs implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and other ministries and recommend corrective measures by September 2014. Justice Sachar Committee and in its final report submitted to the Minister of Minority Affairs, suggestions were presented to achieve better results.
