In the effects of the Congress party’s victory in Karnataka, discussions turn to the responsibilities that lie ahead of the Muslim leaders. In this regard, a meeting of young Muslim intellectuals and activists was held under the leadership of social activist Haris Siddiqui, who said, With a mandate of 135 seats, a five-year tenure awaits the Congress government.
He says Muslims, should focus not just on the appointment of ministers, but also make full use of the 5 year tenure of Congress Government.He said that the Muslim community Leaders should plan what to do in these 5 years to come forward educationally, economically and socially. For instance he says the muslims must know how many PhD scholars they want to make and accordingly the infrastructure and fundings required for it and get that done by the government
He emphasizes the need for social and economic empowerment, for a future where the Muslim community stands at par with other communities at the end of 5 years tenure.
