The Central Government has introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha to repeal and replace the acts that were introduced by the British.
The Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita Bill 2023 seeks to replace the IPC 1860 The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill 2023 aims to replace the Criminal Procedure Act 1898 The Bharatiya Sakshya Bill aims to replace the Indian Evidence Act 1872 Speaking on this Adv. Anwar Ali said , The crimes that were committed back then are still crimes, The Britishers had made penal provisions according to the crimes that were committed then. According to him only if the provisions are “the best” they will hold value. It is yet to be seen if the British Acts were better or those proposed in the Bills are better.
