The topic of uniform civil code in India has sparked political debates, with concerns about whether it aims to substitute current religion-based personal laws that cover marriage, divorce, inheritance, and family matters. Opposition parties are concerned about its execution, fearing potential risks to constitutional rights and freedoms.
In this regard Karnataka Congress spokesperson Adv Sanket Yanegi, speaks on how it’s not just difficult but impossible for UCC to be implemented. He accussed BJP of wanting to saffronise the nation and of using communal tension for votes in the upcoming 2024 election. Reacting on UCC,SUCI(C) Leader Sri Ram said that the bjp agenda is the rss agenda and the motive behind it is to polarise votes on the basis of religion and to impose the cultural norms of the majority on the minorities.
